Migration Forum of the YOUMIG project held by the Faculty of Natural Sciences, Comenius University

n October 24th 2018, Boris Divinský as a thematic expert of the DRIM project (Danube Region Information Platform for Economic Integration of Migrants, Interreg Danube Transnational Program project Nr. DTP1-1-183-4.1) on behalf of the Slovak partner within the project – the Institute of Ethnology and Social Anthropology of the Slovak Academy of Sciences – participated in an expert forum, held within a related Interreg project, YOUMIG.
The expert meeting called Migration Forum was organised by partners of the YOUMIG project in the Slovak Republic – the City part Bratislava-Rača and the Department of Human Geography and Demography at the Faculty of Natural Sciences, Comenius University in Bratislava; right at the premises of the latter institution. The objective of the Forum was the presentation of measures aimed at a successful integration of foreign citizens in society at the local level of the mentioned City part. More concretely, experiences from the establishment and work of a One Stop Shop providing consulting services for foreigners free of charge, as the first centre of this kind in Bratislava. Besides, the Migration Forum accompanied event What City?, which offered special presentations on the integration of immigrants within the selected German cities. After the presentations, DRIM thematic expert Boris Divinský distributed for attending persons some 30 pieces of promotional materials – flyers and posters – informing on the objectives, activities and outcomes of the DRIM project.
               Subsequently, Boris Divinský officially met the Vice-Dean of the Faculty of Natural Sciences, Comenius University, Ass. Prof. RNDr. Branislav Bleha, PhD., who is at the same time a thematic expert for the YOUMIG project. Primarily, issues pertaining to the utilisation and long-term sustainability of outcomes of both Interreg projects after their termination were intensively discussed. In this context, similar problems but also opinions were identified. At the end of this meeting, Vice-Dean B. Bleha received again some 20 pieces of DRIM flyers and posters in order to promote the project at the premises of the Faculty.
